In this post, I’m going to explain, why I ended up switching from Leadpages and moving to a Thrive Themes Membership.
Chances are you’ve heard of Leadpages it seems like everyone under the sun uses it or talks about it, but I hear Thrive mentioned a little less, which surprises me.
Like you, I’d heard of Leadpages and on many people’s recommendation signed up. They have some great templates and I liked a lot about them. However, there were just enough things I didn’t like and after some issues, I opted to make a change and I’m so glad I did…..
Just so you know, this post may contain affiliate links. Meaning I receive commissions for purchases made through those links, at no cost to you. Please understand that I have experience with all of these companies, and I recommend them because they are helpful and useful, not because of the small commissions I make if you decide to buy something. You can read my disclosure policy for more info.
Why I am Talking about Thrive Themes
Because I’m obsessed with it and I tell everyone I know about it, seriously just ask a blogger that’s met me in person chances are I’ve mentioned it.
What Does Leadpages & Thrive Themes Do?
Leadpages is a landing page and opt-in builder.
A full Thrive Themes Membership is so much more. Though two of their tools (you get all of them in the membership) Thrive Architect and Thrive Leads will match what Leadpages does.
What is the Difference Between Leadpages & Thrive Themes?
Leadpages is known for being a landing page builder that exists on their site. So you don’t have to host the page and you could do opt-in forms as well. They will also help to deliver your lead magnet or content upgrade. But it’s pretty costly….
Thrive Themes, on the other hand, is less expensive and does a lot more and if you ever decide to cancel your Thrive Themes Membership you still get to keep all your content because it continues to exist on your own site.
Leadpages vs Thrive Themes Cost
The lowest Leadpages package available is $37/month or $300/year if you pay annually. And the cost is a large part of why I made the switch.
Thrive Themes, the entire membership, which comes with so much more than just landing page stuff, is $228 a year, which comes out to $19 a month or you could pay $90/quarterly which comes out to $30/month. So it was almost around 25% cheaper and you get so much more. If you just wanted the landing page and opt-in piece of Thrive Themes you could get a single site license for a ONE TIME COST of just $134.
The Thrive Themes Membership Comes with So Much More
As I’ve mentioned if you want to just get landing page tools, you could get Thrive Architect and Thrive Leads (and I use those the most), but the full Thrive Themes Membership comes with sooo much more.
This tool allows you to do deadline timers across your site, they can be evergreen or fixed, there are lots of options to them. Similar to Deadline Funnel you can lock people out of a certain page/offer after their deadline has expired.
Thrive Ultimatum: The Ultimate Scarcity Marketing Plugin Price: $97 Thrive Ultimatum makes limited time offers easy! It not only presents the offer, but it locks it out so that people can’t get back to it once the time has expired. It also lets me choose when and where it’s displayed so I can target users.
As the name implies, the membership also comes with a number of themes that you can use with your site. And unlike many other themes I used before, I find this very user-friendly to customize and achieve the look I want.
This allows you to test and test and test to your heart’s desire. It lets you A/B test all the things. In order to A/B test with Leadpages you’d need to upgrade to a higher paid plan.
Thrive Quiz Builder
If you want to build quizzes to get opt-ins, you can do that. While many of the design elements of the Quiz Builder are limited, it’s power comes in the customization of the questions and scoring to produce dynamic results.
Don’t want to host your course on another site like Teachable or Thinkific? Then use Thrive Apprentice on your own site. The only caveat is that Thrive Apprentices doesn’t come with the functionality to lock people out, so in order to have a paywall that keeps people who haven’t paid out – you’d need an additional plugin. However, Thrive Apprentice could be great for free courses you make available.
This Thrive plugin allows you to collect and display testimonials. Which is great because a lot of times you want to show off your testimonials but keeping them all organized and easy to use can be a hassle. You’re not having to like go find the image and the text and everything. It’s just, it’s all in there and easily organized.
Clever widgets is nice! They allow you to customize your sidebar content. I have a whole post and video about customizing your reader’s experience so that they stay on your site longer and are more likely to become subscribers and buyers and stuff. Clever Widgets helps with that by showing them more content that they’re interested in.
This is the opt-in piece I’ve already mentioned. I have a whole video on Thrive Leads and how it’s amazing and how after I switched from Leadpages to Thrive my subscriber rate doubled.
Thrive Leads: the Ultimate List Building Plugin for WordPress Price: $67 For a one time cost of $67 Thrive Leads is a steal, not to mention it's the best list building plugin that makes organization and optimization easy!
Want to test out different headlines? You can do that with Headline Optimizer included in the Thrive Themes Membership.
Want to encourage more comments on your site? With Thrive Comments you can gamify your comments and also encourage email sign-ups.
Exclusive Content and Courses
As a Thrive Themes member, you get exclusive content courses. And they put out some great content that really helped me learn and give me ideas to do things better in my blogging business.
Cons of Thrive Themes
One of the only downsides I would say to Thrive is that their tutorials and knowledge base I don’t think is the most well organized. I kind of had to play around to find the tutorials I wanted so that I could do things. To be fair, I feel like it’s about the same level of user friendliness as Leadpages. Cause I did struggle with Leadpages and actually had some tech issues in Leadpages where it wasn’t calculating conversions. It was really frustrating.
Leadpages Lets You Text
I think the only thing that Leadpages does, that Thrive doesn’t, is they do like texting stuff. However, I think growth tools may have something that’s free that will help you do that. Personally, I don’t like getting text messages from businesses. So that’s personal preference and I don’t really care about being able to do that for my business.
I’m Glad I Switched from Leadpages to Thrive Themes
I switched from Leadpages to Thrive Themes because Thrive comes with like 10x more stuff. And it’s all the tools I really need for my site. I don’t really pay for a lot of other tools outside of Thrive.
Really it’s just a steal of a deal when it comes to cost. Like I said, even if you didn’t want to do with Thrive Membership, that is annual you could get thrive leads and thrive architect for one time cost of just $134.
note: in the video I mistakenly said Thrive Architect cost $100 for a single site license, it’s actually less at $67 for a single site license.
I highly recommend Thrive Themes. It’s awesome. Check it out. And if you guys do have questions, feel free to let me know in the comments because I’m obsessed with Thrive and I will gladly talk about it all day long and answer any questions you have.
Thrive Themes Membership Price: $228/year The Thrive Membership gives you a complete set of tools for building and scaling a website or online business. It's what I use on all my sites and have been obsessed with for over two years.
